YAY ANITA CROXTON! Anita Croxton, an office administrator at Elko Middle School, is today's "Yay of the Day" honoree! Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently at Elko.

YAYWORTHY:

Dr. Tyrus Lyles, Elko principal, said:

"Each day she comes to work, inspiring us to smile and greet our students at the door. She consistently goes above and beyond in her role by assisting with the following: Managing traffic in the main office; making daily morning and afternoon announcements; facilitating schoolwide fundraisers; coaching softball; supporting the administration and teachers; managing the substitutes each day; and attending most after-school events. Ms. Croxton embodies the spirit of hard work and what it means to care for our students. She considers every child at Elko as her own while they are at school, which is evident in all she does. Ms. Croxton knows every student by name at Elko. During her time here, she has built strong relationships with parents, many of whom have multiple children who attend Elko. These relationships have allowed us to create partnerships within the community to further enhance Elko's success.

"Recently, we had a family that was displaced and in need of resources. It was a Thursday afternoon and the temperatures were expected to drop into the 40s. Ms. Croxton used her resources to help the family secure temporary shelter and food for the weekend. When the student returned to school, she checked in on him daily to ensure he had what he needed to be successful in class."

Thank you for all you do, Anita Croxton, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
