MISSION Elko Middle School is a comprehensive middle school in Henrico County Public Schools. We aim to inspire educational excellence among all students in their journey from middle to high school. To achieve our goal, Elko will increase the percentage of students demonstrating proficiency in grade-level content by 10% in ELA, Math, & Science. SCHOOL OPERATIONS ATTENDANCE UPDATES | Contacts/Pick-up Lists: Please make sure your student’s pick-up list is up to date by updating the Contacts listed in PowerSchool. You can do this by logging in to your Parent Portal account. Anyone coming to pick up a student for early dismissal MUST be listed in PowerSchool. If someone is not listed in PowerSchool, we will not be able to call the student down. EARLY DISMISSAL REMINDER: The cut off time for early dismissals is 2:30pm. Transportation: If your student’s bus is running late, please refer to the Parent Portal Bus App or contact the Transportation Office at 804-261-9401. The attached fliers include step by step instructions for setting up the app to track your student’s bus. |
DEPARTMENT UPDATES | NEW-HIGH SCHOOL DROP CREDIT Students who earned a C or lower in a high school course may request to drop the credit from their transcript. This will remove the course from their high school GPA, but the course must be retaken if they need the class to graduate. Please speak with your student's counselor before submitting the form. Once submitted, your decision to drop the credit cannot be changed. Submit the form by June 30 at: https://bit.ly/ElkoCreditDrop COURSE REQUESTS FOR SY 25/26 Parents! Please log into PowerSchool to check your student's course requests for next year. If you would like to make any changes or something that looks incorrect, please contact your grade level counselor. All changes must be requested by May 23, 2025. SUMMER SCHOOL We are getting close to the end of the school year, and I know parents are starting to get nervous about grades and summer school. Students can take up to two classes in summer school; each class will cost $180 dollars. School counselors are meeting with students to help them set goals and work towards avoiding summer school. Before signing your student up for Summer School, please speak with your student's school counselor. Once you have spoken with your student's counselor, you can sign-up with the following link: Summer School Sign-Up SCHOOL COUNSELING APPOINTMENTS Our School Counselors are happy to meet with parents either in person or over the phone to discuss any concerns or questions they might have.
